University of Auckland Debating Society

The University of Auckland Debating Society is a registered charity. Any funding or sponsorship provided will be tax deductible, and we will publicly thank our sponsors on social media and in person at our end of semester prizegivings.

Named Tournament Sponsor
If you would like to help us cover the costs associated with hosting a major domestic or internal tournament, we can offer naming rights for the tournament. As a named tournament sponsor, every reference to the tournament on social media, in-person to membership and on our website will include your organisation’s name. For example, if you choose to sponsor the Auckland Novice Tournament, the tournament will be referred to as the “[Your Company Name} Auckland Novice Tournament”. We are seeking sponsorship of $1000 in exchange for naming rights to any internal tournament, and we are open to any offer above $1000 in exchange for naming rights to any domestic tournaments.

Club night sponsor
Every Thursday evening during the semester we host a club night for all members to socialise, grow their critical thinking skills, and increase their confidence in public speaking. If you would like to help fund the running of these club nights, we can offer naming rights or sponsor recognition. Every week we will mention your organisation in the promotion we do for our weekly club nights. This includes a weekly post on social media, email to membership, promotion on our website and an announcement in person at the beginning of each club night. We are seeking sponsorship of $2,000 for this option.

Tournament squad sponsor
If you would like to support the University of Auckland on the domestic or international stage, we can offer squad or individual team naming rights in exchange for support to cover the high cost of attending an international tournament. If you choose this option, all posts on social media, correspondence with the University of Auckland, communication with membership and awards presented at our end of semester prizegivings will refer to teams using your organisations name. For example, the top ranked team to represent the University of Auckland at the World Universities’ Debating Championships in Panama will be referred to as “[Your Company Name] Auckland A”. Our international success is regularly publicised on the University of Auckland and University of Auckland Law School’s social medias.

Public debate sponsor
If you would like to assist in the running or funding of our public debates we are happy to offer naming rights or sponsor recognition depending on the sponsorship offered. Additionally, we are open to topical debates on specific issues you may want heard or discussed.

One-off sponsor
If you would like to support any of the events mentioned in this prospectus in any way, we are open to one off donations. We would also be happy to partner with your organisation to arrange any new events. As we are a registered charity, any financial support provided to the University of Auckland Debating Society will be tax deductible.
