Russell McVeagh Auckland Novice 2024 Wrap-up!

On Saturday we hosted the Russell McVeagh Auckland Novice Debating Tournament, as a perfect introduction to tournaments for those new to University debating! This was a great event with over 40 participants, all of whom developed their skills and had a fun time over the day.

Krishin Cox, Blake Bain and Uday Jain for winning the gold division final!

Ellie Cammell, Ollie Christie and Mikah Buckley for winning the novice division final!

Rebecca Huang, Chloe Sim and Henry Isac for reaching the gold final!

Raisa Chugh, Maryam Mir and Sophie Yu for reaching the novice final!

Giverny Miedema and Zan Warren-Kazor for being Co-Best Speakers of the gold division!

Ellie Cammell for being Best Speaker of the white division!

Aanya Thakkar for winning Most Improved!

Rebecca Huang, Krishin Cox, Henry Isac and Chloe Sim were Highly Commended in the gold division!

Minh Anh Tran, Maryam Mir and Raisa Chugh were Highly Commended in the novice division!

Thank you to Russell McVeagh for sponsoring the tournament, and allowing us to provide prize money to the champions and speaker award winners, as well as lunch for all attendees. Russell McVeagh graduate roles, clerkship, and scholarship applications are now open, and we encourage anyone interested to apply.
